The city was a big and marvelous place; in it, many things could be found that would satisfy those who required a little bit more than the insecure and tedious world around the edges of the countryside. There was work, there were people, and more importantly, there were organs.
Ibis was a stereotypical nineteen-year-old girl; she had very few realistic aspirations, little real world experience, no motivation what-so-ever, and the idea that she could take on just about anything.

Ibis came to sometime later, hearing the soft serenade of an electrocardiograph over the soft conversing of doctors. As she opened her eyes, she was greeted by a blurred, white space. She closed her eyes, trying to help them refocus. She opened them again, only the corners blurred, seeing that there was a doctor standing near the edge of the bed. He was talking to a man in a well made suit. From what she could hear – her hearing still as fuzzy as her sight had been – the man sounded concerned about her condition.
